Birth Story of Alex Connor
Alex Connor Our son Alex Connor finally came into the world on June 11, 1993 it was a long and difficult pregnancy. I started to go into preterm labor at 17 weeks and was on bed rest from then on. Luckily I never had to stay in the hospital for more than a few days at a time. My husband was in the fire academy so I did a lot of studying with him. After being on bed rest for so long and stopping my labor I went off all medication at 34 weeks and expected to go into labor right away. Boy was I wrong! My husband & I must have walked a million miles. Finally at 42 weeks my doctor induced me. I checked into the hospital at 7:00 am and my OB/GYN ruptured my membranes and started a slow pitocin drip. My labor started right away and was going well. I walked the halls for a while and then took a whirlpool bath that really relaxed me. My husband was there playing our favorite music, massaging my back and doing whatever he could do to help make me comfortable. Finally about 12:30PM I asked for an epidural and got it right away. I spent the rest of my labor very relaxed and visiting with my husband. Finally about 3:00 I told the nurse that. I was feeling nauseous she checked me and I was at a 9. Our son Alex came into the world at 3:30PM. We were playing our favorite music and everyone was singing (including the Dr. and nurses) He weighed 7lbs 6.2ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. The doctor laid him on my tummy and he looked right at us the nurse helped me get him nursing and I delivered the placenta a few minutes later. He was born with hypospadias and it was surgically corrected when he was 9 months old.
