Cute Things They Do or Say

This page tells about some funny/cute or weird things my kids did over the years. I am trying to find them on my diverse computers and even some in old boxes with floppies. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did!

Cees, when I go on business trip

This was written on May 4, 1995

I have to go on business trip to Houston, Texas tomorrow. Tonight I was preparing Cees (3yo) by telling him about when I would go and how long I would stay away and so.

His first reaction was: 'When I am grown up, I will have breasts and then I will be able to fly to Texas!'

?????

Cees tried emotional blackmail after that business trip.

Last week I was on a business trip, and when I came home I had a little present for both of the kids. After Cees (3yo) had opened his present (a Magic Schoolbus book) and had read it, he wanted to know whether I had brought more presents. I told him that I bought one present for each of them.

Cees announced: 'If you don't give me more presents, then I am going to cry!'

I thought it was so cute. He was not saying it tearful or so, more like trying out whether this line would work. He was not very heartbroken when it didn't. He did not get more presents, and he totally forgot to cry about it :-)

The things they come up with...

Tim blowing bubbles

This was written on May 16, 1995

Timmy (21mo) just learned how to blow bubbles. But he still thinks that the wand has to touch your lips to be able to blow them. So after a few times, his lips are full of soap.

He just found out that in that case, he can take the bubble wand away, say 'Meeeeeeh meeeeeeeeh meeeeeeeh' and watch the bubbles come out of his mouth!

He really loves to do that :-) And it is so fun to watch him blowing bubbles with only his mouth :-)

Cees, preparing for Father's day.

This was written on June 18, , 1995

Friday night I sent my husband out to do grocery shopping, so I could do Father's day preparations with Cees (3yo) and Tim (22mo). We had a white t-shirt that we put their hand prints on with textile paint and their names and on the back I let them draw with textile paint markers. (Turned out really nice) They loved doing that. Timmy was just scribbling, Cees was drawing a monster.

While we were doing that, we were talking about how it was almost Father's day and how we were making this t-shirt for daddy and that it was going to be a surprise, so we shouldn't tell him yet.

Of course, my 3yo still does not totally grasp this, so the moment daddy came home he told him excitedly: 'We have made you a t-shirt and I have drawn a monster on it and it is going to be a surprise!' :-) :-) :-)

Oh well, at least he didn't tell about the bread machine.... (but that's only because I didn't tell HIM :-)

Cees and the killer whale.

This was written on July 20, 1995

This vacation we went to Marineland with our 2 kids, where they have shows with dolphins and killer whales and sea lions and so. We watched one of the killer whale show and they told that one of the killer whales was 7000 pound. Cees later only remembered the '7' part. He would say 'We went to Marine land and there was a killer whale and he was seven!'

Then later we heard 'I am going to be 4 and then I am going to be 5 and then I am going to be 6 and then I am going to be a KILLER WHALE!'

And tonight (2 weeks later) he was in bed, trying to fall asleep and he made a lot of noise so we went in. He was lying on his back, hands and feet in the air. 'See! I am playing with my hands and feet. I ask 'Who are you?' and than he (his left foot) says 'I am Marineland!!!'' 'Hihihihihi! That is funny!!!!!!' ???????

Oh well, maybe he will fall asleep now. I have not heard him for about 5 minutes already :-)

Cees and the magic word.

This was written on July 22, 1995

Cees (3yo) asks for animal crackers and my husband gets them for him. Before handing them over, he asks 'What is the magic word?'

Cees replies 'Mine!'

I think Timmy (23mo) is generating some over-exposure to this word in our household :-) About 80% of his communications are either 'MINE!' or 'NO!' :-)

Tim and breastfeeding.

This was written on July 22, 1995

He is starting to use some more words and one of the new ones is 'Borsssss', (Dutch for 'breast', means 'I want to nurse NOW!')

Last week I was changing his diaper and he started saying 'Borsss'. I pretended not to understand and said: 'That is Timmy's breast!' He replied 'NO! Mama borssss!' He just couldn't believe that mommy could not understand that immediately :-)

Eeeeeewwww!!!!!

This was written on Aug 29, 1995

You know you are a parent when your 3yo comes over to you, crying, and tells you that your (me and my husband's) toothbrushes have fallen into the toilet!!!

Yuk!!

We immediately went out and bought new ones :-)
