Cees at 4yo

Cees (pronounced as ‘Case') is a typical 4yo with an unlimited imagination, a fascination with superheros and a preference for bathroom humor. He is very verbal, he usually talks the whole day. He is starting to sight read some words, but we think it will still take quite some time before he really will be reading. His daycare provider had been working on phonics with him and he seems to be picking that up pretty easily.

He is very shy and usually needs some time to warm up to groups. But once he has warmed up, he will be very enthousiastic. He just started a new preschool a few weeks ago and he has really blossomed there. He especially likes acting out 'The Wolf and the Three Pigs' at preschool, he and a few other kids would like to play this every day. At home he acts out Peter Pan a lot, together with Timmy. Sanders Lego pirate ship is Captain Hooks ship, his Lego Armada ship is Peter Pan's ship :-)

It is fascinating to see him grow and develop. He is almost 5yo now and the last year has not always been perfect with him, we definitely have discovered the fearsome fours :-( At some point he was fighting us every moment of the day, not wanting to get up, not wanting to get dressed, not wanting to take his medicine, not wanting to do anything, ...... It was hard, but thanks to lots of internet support from people who had been there and survived it, we got through that period. It is better now, although I am sure there will be something else coming up soon :-)

He plays together a lot with Timmy, his 3yo sibling. Sometimes they are off for hours and we don't have to do anything with them, they just play together nicely!!! It is amazing and we enjoy it, it gives us time to concentrate on Tara. Of course we also have the days that they start fighting in the morning and seem to be fighting the whole day :-(

Cees is bilingual. He speaks and understands both Dutch and English. He speaks Dutch with us, but he usually speaks English with Tim, which was kind of a surprise to us.
