Ingeborg DumontIngeborg DumontJuly 5, 1983 at 7.30am 4000 gram (8 lbs 13 oz) 52 cm (20 1/2") Ingeborg was born on her due date, during a very hot summer. When I went to sleep at night, I felt light contractions. I found out that I couldn't sleep, because the contractions got stronger soon. This time I had done a childbirth preparation class, where I had been taught how to breathe to cope with the contractions. I went to the hospital and I got a room with a bed. I found out I could cope with the contractions the most effectively by lying on my left side and by really concentrating on my breathing. Everything went pretty fast and I got pushing contractions pretty soon, although I did not recognize them. I kept thinking that I needed to go to the bathroom, it felt exactly like that. So I kept walking to the bathroom and back. Then when they checked me again, I turned out to be fully dilated. I still did have a hard lip left of the cervix, but I still was allowed to bear down with the contractions. I was rolled down in my bed to the delivery room and there on the delivery table again, lying on my back and legs up in the stirrups (like a helpless beetle). This time the pushing went much faster than with my first delivery. After 20 minutes, she was born, a big daughter. She gave me only a little tear and we soon could start enjoying our new life together. Send email to Carine Dumont | back to Background graphics by mabear.
