Jane at 2 Months Old

Jane is 2 months old already and she is doing great! She is another rather easy baby, just like Tara was, but then, I think most babies would be considered easy in our household, after our experience with Timmy :-) She is content most of the time, as long as she is being carried around. She smiled early, before she was 1mo and she now is often laughing out loud. She has her fussy times, but nothing extreme, usually she feels better after 1 or 2 hours.

She totally surprised us by rolling over from her tummy to her back when she was 5 weeks old. She has repeated it many times since, but refuses to do it when I try to capture it on the camcorder :-)

She has a different nursing pattern from the others. She likes to cluster feed for 1 or 2 hours and then to go hours without any nursing, sometimes sleeping, sometimes just being awake and alert. And, she is SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! and has been doing that for a few weeks already! She is the only one of ours, that has ever done that as a baby. The only thing is that Tara does not sleep through the night yet, so it still doesn't give me an uninterrupted night. Even Timmy still wakes at night, but he walks over to our bed, climbs in and snuggles with daddy, not disturbing us at all. So we are grateful that we finally seem to have gotten a baby who is a good sleeper! :-)

Jane seems to be a real thumb sucker. Cees and Tim never did it, Tara did it occasionally during her first few months, but Jane seems very fanatic about it. She started sucking her thumb when she was less than an hour old. And since then, she has been getting better and better at finding it. Now often, she will start to fuss, then find her thumb and suck, suck, suck on it, calming herself that way!!!

The transition to 4 kids has gone smoothly. The biggest difference is that we are doing lots of things with a baby in our arms, or in the sling, it is not really a lot more work to have a newborn. Compared to the others, newborns are so easy! :-) Of course there are times that Cees is throwing up, Tim is having a temper tantrum, Tara is crying and Jane is screaming, and a telemarketeer calls, but most of the time things are much better than that!
