Tim at 8 Years Old

Tim is 8 years old now (today!) and doing great. His reading is coming along, he is reading more and more, including secretly reading Calvin and Hobbes in bed at night :-) Not sure whether that's the best literature for him, but if it works to help him to read, I don't really mind :-) He is a very creative guy, can spend hours and hours drawing maps and pictures and all kinds of involved adventures. He also is the type of kid, who gets some stuff from around the house, buries it in our yard. then goes on an expedition to dig up all those 'dinosaur bones'. Next step is duct taping them together to a dinosaur and that makes it ready to sell to a museum for a million dollars. Not many museums have expressed an interest in this particular dinosaur yet though :-)

He has done a year of gymnastics now and really enjoys it. He also does karate, where he recently earned his yellow belt. And then there is cub scouts, where he will be a bear this year. He is on his first overnight camp with Cees at cub scouts camp this week, he was looking forward to it. I haven't heard anything yet, so I assume that that means that they are doing well :-)

He loves building lego and K'nex. His current lego favorites are Bionicles, he has been earning money around the house lately, to buy more of them. He also likes to play computer games, although he doesn't get addicted to them, just plays for a while and stops. He likes to watch Cees play games too.

Tim is very caring for his younger brothers and sisters, always keeping an eye on them. He likes to play with baby Erik, and liked to hold him when he still wanted to be held (at the moment Erik is too busy exploring to have the patience to be held by siblings :-) His relationship with Tara is a love/hate one. One moment they are playing together really well, the other moment they are screaming and fighting and everything is wrong. An hour later they will be playing happily again.

On the picture on the left, he had fun with face paint. They had been wanting to do that for a while and they went totally crazy when I got it for them. It didn't come off as easily as I thought it would though, this scary face stayed for a few days before it faded :-)
