Birth Story of Tiffani Turre KohlerTiffani Turre Kohler
Tiffani was due on April 28th 1993. We were very much anticipating her entry into the world. We were living in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area when I was pregnant with her. Again, I had a lot of morning sickness with her, like I had with Christopher. On top of that, Mike and I had decided that we wanted to move closer to our families. They were 3 hours north of us in the Wausau area. We had planned the move for May 1st. I know, this was pushing it but they say that each baby comes sooner and faster and that was the best that we could do. We had to be out of our house by the 1st so we decided that we would move by then. We had informed the doctor of this all the way through the pregnancy. He said that if we did not have the baby by the 27th, he would consider inducing labor if I had dilated at all. I went in to see him on the 26th and I was already dilated a little and effaced a little also. He scheduled the induction for the next morning at 7:00 a.m. We were very excited. Since the house was already pretty much packed up, we figured that we would have no problems at all. We just grabbed the suitcase and were off the next morning. When we got to the hospital, everything changed. Since I had such high blood pressure, they refused to induce my labor!!! They sent me home. What were we going to do now. Mike did not want to be in the middle of moving while I was in labor so he decided that we would move that day yet. We were going to stay with my dad until the new house we were moving into came empty. We moved on the 27th. We loaded the truck in the morning and were on our way by 1:00 p.m. My husband was really great. He knew where all the hospitals were on the way. We knew that we had to make it to each place. We stopped to rest at each place so that the labor would not start too soon from all the excitement and driving. We made it to my dad's house and had no problem along the way. The next day was uneventful for me but busy for Mike. He had to move all the boxes into the new house. We got everything in there and started to unpack on the 29th. We were up late cleaning and getting some things put away. The morning of the 30th, everything changed. I woke up at 7:00 when the phone rang. I had a really bad stomach ache. I thought that I had to go to the bathroom, so that is what I did. That did not help any. When I came out of the bathroom I felt a little different. I doubled over with a cramp. Mike hung up on the person that called and called the hospital in Wuasau to let them know that we were on our way. We then took our son, Christopher over to his Uncles, who was a block away. We told them that we did not have much time. I already felt like I had to push. They grabbed him and then they called the hospital to tell them that they hoped that we made it. The hospital was 30 minutes away. We made it in that amount of time. It was two lane country roads so we had a hard time passing. People were on their way to work so there was quite a few cars. I was calm all the way there. I told Mike that I was ok until I saw the hospital. I told him that now would be a really good time to start driving faster. He saw the look on my face and he knew that I was ready. He pulled up to the door and they were waiting for me with a wheel chair. They ran me down the hall. They had put me in my room and told me to put on my gown. I no more than had it on and my water broke. Mike told the nurse, who checked me, and said that the head was already coming out. They ran me across the hall and into the delivery room. I was just barely there and they said that I needed to push RIGHT NOW!!! I pushed and she was born at 8:30 a.m. at 7 lbs 11 oz. She was barely breathing at first, but they rubbed her a little and then she made her first big scream. She stayed with me in my room and never moved from there. I would not let her out of my sight!!! I had tore a little bit but it was nothing since it was my second and I knew what to expect!!! Send email to Tammy Kohler |
