Birth Story of Tiffany

Tiffany
July 16, 1991
7lbs. 14 oz

Hmmm, the birth story of my child born in 1991, Tiffany. Where to start!! I was married to my ex-husband at the time, who joined the military to pay for her & all expenses. So, he was off at bootcamp from 4th month on, so he missed out. Soon after he left I had an appendix nearly rupture so had to have an appendectomy during 5th month of pregnancy. That was an experience, being the last words I remember before going under the anesthesia was the surgeon saying "I've never done this on a pregnant woman before!". It was reassuring...

I might also mention I was a Senior in high school, so missed out on all the fun senior stuff, too pregnant to do anything! For our senior trip we went to Six Flags over Texas, I had to have a dr. release to go! I couldn't ride any rides, I think I mainly went along to hold everyone's stuff & watch them have fun!

Then on July 16, 2:30am I had my first contraction. I called my mom who was my coach, & she took her time getting to me because she figured my first child would take awhile. WRONG! I had to call her 2 more times because I went into hard labor QUICK!

After 2 hrs. she showed up to take me to the hospital, when we finally got there all I wanted was DRUGS!! I'm not a sissy but if I can get take something for pain I will! So, they had to wait another hour to check me in & give me Stadol to make sure it was true labor... I tried to tell them it was but they didn't believe me! Now it's 5:30am and I finally got the drugs! I was fine then, except the nurses poking me with IV's trying to find a good vein... Then the doctor (who I couldn't stand, he was chosen by my mom when I found out I was pregnant because she was paying for it then!) Showed up at 9:30, did the exam, said I had awhile then left saying he was going to eat breakfast...WRONG!

About 5 minutes later my water broke & out came her head. The nurse was standing between my legs telling me to hold it in they had to go catch the doctor! He came back in time to catch her (I think 1 push?), laid her on my stomach, then turned the rest of the job to the nurses & P.A.'s, saying he was going to eat now! (What a jerk! I couldn't believe he got paid so much money for THAT!). So, now I had a beautiful baby girl, 7lbs. 14 oz., and the first thing mom & I said was "She looks like Sara!" (my sister!). To this day she still looks like Sara, and acts like her too! I still call Sara 'Tiffany' and Tiffany 'Sara' when I'm around them both! I thought I'd share my interesting labor & pregnancy story, hope it's entertaining! Now my 2nd pregnancy & labor is a different story...
