The Sixth Time

25 Weeks Prenatal

MW visit Last Thursday, I had my 25 weeks prenatal. Things are going very smoothly. I had a friend with me, who took pictures and Sander made it to the appointment, so we had a lot of people. We chatted for a while, and I told her the exhaustion was finally gone and I was feeling much better now. The only thing is that heart burn has started, but that is pretty normal for me at this stage of pregnancy.

I couldn't pee at the beginning of the appointment, I always go to the bath room just before I leave the house with the kids, and had automatically done that again, totally forgetting about having to produce a pee sample. So she gave me some water to drink and we postponed that part till later.

My weight gain was 5 lbs over the last 4 weeks, so the baby is definitely growing. Or is it me getting fatter? :-) Blood pressure was 100 / 64 , which is normal for me. Tara helped pumping up the blood pressure cuff, but it was kind of heavy for her, so it took a long time. She really enjoyed doing it though :-)

Then it was time for the more fun part, palpating the baby. He was head down this time, but is still moving around a lot. She could feel a little foot going past while she was palpating him. I tried to feel the baby too. I am usually able to find the head, but have a hard time identifying the other parts. She helped me figuring out more of them. Guess I need to have more babies, so I can practice more :-)

She found the baby's heartbeat with the stethoscope, counted it and then we all listened to the heartbeat. All the kids had a turn, then me, my friend and my husband, so that was eight people listening! It is good that she schedules an hour for every appointment :-) Kate (1yo) was listening very intensely, all the while sucking her thumb. It was very cute to see.

I was able to pee now, so we did that and everything was negative this time. We chatted a little more and I asked her about her policy if I was going to be overdue more than 14 days. I was overdue with all my babies, so I wanted to be prepared if it happens again this time. She said she would check us more often, but she is not going to push induction as long as both me and baby are doing fine. She does like people to go in for an ultrasound at two weeks overdue though, to check the fluid level. That would be totally fine with me. But I would like to wait till the baby is ready and not do anything to get him out, unless there are medical reasons of course. Last time, when Kate was born, we had an important international trip coming up (due to visa issues) and we did a lot of trying to get her induced with natural techniques. I found that rather stressful.
