The Sixth Time

Nesting!!!!

Yes, I know, I missed some weeks, but for a good cause, because the nesting urge has really gotten to me this time! Somehow I didn't feel like writing on the computer much, but boy, did I feel like cleaning and organizing. That is not a normal state of mind for me :-) I don't remember this extreme nesting behavior from my other pregnancies, I think it makes a big difference that this is the first pregnancy I am not working or moving (we ended up moving FOUR times during my last pregnancy!)

Let's see, during the last few weeks, I have totally gotten all our floors free of toys, so you can actually walk anywhere without tripping, cleaned out and organized three kitchen cabinets, finished the decluttering in the master bed room, got most of Tara's room decluttered, moved the boys together in one room in bunk beds, ordered new carpeting for the other room, got the kitchen counter mostly decluttered, unpacked quite a lot of moving boxes and lots lots more!!! It is amazing :-)

window Of course, I know this won't last once the new baby is here, but for now I am really enjoying having a slightly more organized house. I also got some of my shopping for the new baby done, got a new car seat, and a stand mixer, so that I can let the mixer knead my bread dough instead of doing it all by hand. I even got 98% of my Christmas shopping done already, which I usually do early anyway, since we also celebrate Sinterklaas, a Dutch holiday, which is on Dec 5. We divide the gifts for the kids over those two holidays.

The pregnancy is going well. The baby had been persistently breech, but finally had turned around at my last prenatal, not only that, but also the head was way down already. Nice job, baby! The next prenatal will be the home visit, when the midwife will come over to our house and I can meet the other midwife who will be at the birth and she will bring the birthing tub with her. Somehow it is all getting so close, not sure whether I am ready for it yet :-)

I need to check and figure out whether I have everything I need for the birth, and order if I am still missing things. I think I have most, but I need to go through the box and compare it to the list. I also need to go through the baby clothes, so the baby doesn't have to go naked all the time. I do have an empty dresser for her already, though, I just need to take the time to go through the five thousand boxes of baby clothes we have :-)

Back to cleaning and decluttering, I will try to keep up better from now on, especially since there are only five weeks left! Where did the time go??????
