Getting Closer!Thirty seven weeks already, it is getting closer! I did go overdue with all my other kids though, so somehow I can't imagine that I would go early this time! But at least, being at 37 weeks means that I can stay at home now if I do go into labor, I have to be that far along to be able to have a home birth. Of course, being used to going overdue, also means that I am not ready yet! That would take the thrill out of the last few weeks. But at least I did find my list of what needs to be in my birth kit, and I know I have most of it, just need to pick up a few more things. And I don't have any baby clothes sorted out yet, but that's on my list to do soon too :-) Luckily I don't have to buy much for a sixth baby. I did buy a new car seat though. The old infant seat had been used by all 3 girls and was looking old and also had a recall on it, so that was more than enough reason for me to get a new one. Not to mention that with my car seat addiction, I just had lots of fun researching infant seats and finding the best one for my situation. We ended up with a Britax Handle With Care, with a cute galaxy print. Today we visited the fabric store and got fleece for a blanket in the car for every one, including the new baby. I am going to make a kind of bag for the baby to go in, which won't interfere with the harness, but will keep the baby warm in our cold winter. Also making car blankets for the other kids, but not like bags. Wouldn't go very well together with their muddy boots :-) Kate showed off her temper tantruming skills in the fabric store, much to the dismay of an older lady who asked her to stop it... Yeah right, that will work with a toddler in the middle of a temper tantrum. I also got a new mixer and a grain mill. I have been hand kneading bread for a few months now, but I figured it would be harder to do when the new baby is here, so wanted a stand mixer to do it for me. And after reading about how much more nutrition there is in fresh milled grain, I also decided to start milling my own. So we have had the new mixer for a few weeks now, done lots of baking, and the grain mill has been ordered and will arrive soon! A 50 lbs bag of organic wheat berries is waiting for it in our basement. This is fun, much more fun than a nursery! (baby sleeps with us, so we don't need any of that! :-)
House is still getting more and more decluttered, but there is still lots of stuff left too. I emptied and cleaned the top of the fridge for the first time in two years! And Cees and Tim moved together in one room (in bunk beds, on their request) and that freed up Tim's old room. His carpeting needed to be replaced and that happened on Wednesday. We might use that room as birthing room, although I am still not sure whether I want to do a water birth in a room with brand new carpeting... LOL. Still feeling great and having lots of energy, I won't mind going overdue if I keep feeling like this! Baby is head down, but still posterior and very active. Even although I had requested the mellow model this time, I hope there hasn't been a mixup... Oh well, I guess we will find out around January 5!
