Mother's DayWe don't really celebrate Mother's Day, but I had dropped some hints to Sander about a new digital camera, totally in jest. To my utter amazement, he had gotten it for me!!!!!! He had ordered it on Friday and we got it on Saturday. That was fast! It will be so much fun when the new baby is born, that means we can post high quality pictures to our home page almost immediately. We did have another digital camera, but it was very low end and not great quality. This new one is much, much better. I am very happy with it!
For dinner we got Chinese take-out food. We used to do that a lot when I was still working, but get it only very rarely now that I am at home and our budget is tighter. But I figured Mother's Day would be a good opportunity to do it again. The kids love sweet and sour chicken, and two of the kids like fried rice. Of course, they all like the fortune cookies, with the older boys taking the lucky numbers very seriously. The girls mostly like the cookies part, not as interested in their fortune. Although Tara wanted hers read to her. Yesterday I got a card in the mail from my midwives. They wrote that it was time again to call them for my annual checkup. Well, I was planning on calling them anyway to set up my first prenatal, so figured this would be as good a time as any. I called them this morning. Told her that I would like to set up an appointment for the checkup, and that I was pregnant again. She congratulated me and said that we could combine things. So I have my first prenatal for next Thursday. Even although this is my sixth kid, I am still excited about the prospect. The first prenatal has something special. I scheduled it at 12pm, so that Sander can join me at the midwife's, that will be fun! One funny thing which happened yesterday, unrelated to the pregnancy. Tim, my 6yo had to have an eye exam and the assistant of the doctor was preparing him for it. She told him that the doctor would want to look at the back of his eyes. He asked, very interested 'So how are you going to turn them around?'. She was taken aback by his question, nobody had asked that before. But when you are 6yo, it makes sense that to look at the back of an eyeball, you will have to turn it around somehow :-) She then explained about the dilating drops, about which he was less than thrilled to say the least. Seven weeks pregnant today! And the nausea is getting worse, but I still haven't thrown up, so that is good. I keep hoping that this time I won't get the severe morning sickness that I usually get? I can hope, can't I? My belly is starting to pouch out already, I guess my tummy muscles aren't the best anymore after five previous kids :-) Sander keep telling me that he thinks it is twins and that that is why I am growing already. My pregnancy intuition tells me it is just one, so he must be wrong. Of course, my pregnancy intuition also told me that Tim was a girl and Tara surely must be a boy, so I can't be too sure about the accuracy :-) Guess we'll find out eventually if it is twins, but it feels like just one baby.
