Last PrenatalStill another installment! I had hoped to be able to post a birth story instead, but it looks like this baby is very comfortable inside. I am eight days overdue now, so that is getting close to my 'normal' pregnancy length. Cees was 22 days overdue, Tim 14 days, Tara 3 days and Jane 3 days also. So I figured I was getting better at that due date thing. Of course, Kate had to prove me wrong by being here 10 days overdue and this one looks like she will be late too! :-)
Contractions were pretty strong and continued when I was at home, but did get less strong when I was sitting down. I didn't really mind that, since I was still planning on doing my weekly grocery shopping this morning. Can't give birth without having everything just perfect! :-) When I went to bed, contractions stopped, but I hoped they would start again this morning. Of course, they didn't, but maybe things will still happen. For now, I'll use the time to update on my (hopefully) last prenatal. Yesterday morning, my midwife called and told me she had to be around here anyway and whether she could come over for the birth, instead of me having to come into the office. Of course I said yes, that is so much easier for me! So she came here around noon. Sander came home too, so he could be at the prenatal. Kate was very happy to see the midwife and immediately started playing with the stethoscope and the blood pressure stuff. She loves listening to my belly with it. We talked for a while and did the checkup, everything was normal. I was measuring 37 cm now, which is high for me, I usually measure more behind. We chatted for a while about when things would happen, and where she would be during the weekend, so I knew how to reach her. She also set up a prenatal for next week, even although I told her I wouldn't be pregnant any more :-) I really feel like the baby will be born this weekend, even although it doesn't really show any signs yet at this moment.
