Karate!!!

Eleven weeks and this pregnancy is going great! The morning sickness seems to be getting less, which is earlier than usual. Exhaustion is still pretty bad though, but that is not surprising at this stage of pregnancy. Still addicted to brownies and experimenting with them. My kids are really enjoying this addiction! I made the perfect ones yesterday, in a bigger pan and with more eggs, I think I'll keep them that way. I do make them with whole wheat flour, so that means I can count it as a serving of grains, can't I? :-)

Next week I will have my second prenatal, but not much pregnancy related happened this week. So I will tell about Tara's adventures at karate school instead. Cees (8yo) and Tim (6yo) have been doing karate for about 1.5 years now and Tara has been really wanting to join them. Last year, on her third birthday, she asked happily 'Can I do karate now?' but she had to wait another year. But now she was going to be 4 on Sunday, she is allowed to start at their dojo, so she had a trial lesson last week.

Tara She watched a little of the boys class, then went to work with the teacher in a seperate room, where the teacher showed her some blocks, punches and kicks. She did amazingly well, I didn't know how well she would follow directions, but figured we could just try it. Then after the 'class' we went to fill in the forms and get her her uniform, of which she is extremely proud. She kept saying 'These are MY karate clothes, not for everybody! Not for Jane, not for Kate, they are for ME!!!'

I signed her up for one month, just to see how she would do and then at the end of the month we'll decide whether she can go on. She is still very young to start, so I am not sure whether it will be succesful or not, but I wanted to give her the chance, since she really, really, really wanted it.

She had her first real lesson last Monday and was extremely proud at being able to finally wear her karate clothes. Jane was very jealous of them and really wanted to do karate too, but she is not even 3 yet, so will have to wait a while longer. I didn't watch the lesson, only the first few minutes and the last few minutes, but I heard she did well. Also she was very enthusiastic. 'I did great, mama!'. This is her first experience with a group situation like this, so I didn't know how she would do, but she seems to really enjoy it. I think it helps that usual one or both of her brothers are in the same class too.

Another lesson on Wednesday and she came back very happy again. For now, it looks like she is going to do fine with the lessons, I am glad she enjoys it so much.

So now I am the mother to one kid with a yellow belt, one with an orange belt, one with a white belt and 2.5 without any belts :-)
