The Sixth Time

Exhausted!

Fourteen weeks now and things are going great, apart from the extreme exhaustion I am suffering from. I had hoped that by now it would be letting up, but somehow it doesn't. I have a hard time getting up in the morning. Now I have never been a morning person, but this is much worse than usual. Then when I finally get myself dragged out of bed, the couch downstairs looks just sooooo inviting! :-) The rest of the day is spent with a lot of exhaustion too, I think I would sleep the whole day if I could, but somehow that never seems to happen. So I am really hoping that this phase passes soon, I want to get my normal, energetic self back!

I am still nauseaus, but not too bad, that seems less this pregnancy compared to my others. Maybe the exhaustion is worse because the nausea is better? That it somehow has to average out in the end? OK, maybe not :-)

Tara, my 4yo, is very involved and interested in the pregnancy. She is talking a lot about the new baby and how the new baby won't be able to do anything yet, just like baby Colin (my friend's baby). Baby Colin only can nurse, he can't do anything else yet! Also how the baby is naked inside mama, since I don't have t-shirts in my belly. That was something she was really amazed about the first time she watched Jane's birth video 'The baby is NAKED!' I guess before she saw that, she had assumed that they come out all dressed up :-) But now she knows that the baby will come out naked and she talks about how we have t-shirts in our house to dress the new baby.

Last week, she was drawing a picture and came over to show it to me. There were two big circles, with a person-like drawing in them. She told me 'Look, that is when baby Kate was born, in the kiddie pool! And that is the umbilical snake!' LOL Then later she came over with another drawing: 'This is baby Kate in her egg!' Very cute!

We had a nice Fourth of July. We went early, the fireworks were at the local high school and we let the kids run off a lot of energy at the playground there. There were free hay rides, which all the kids enjoyed. Because we were so early, we didn't have to wait in line long to do one. After that, we had a picnic and waited for the fireworks to start. The kids were somewhat hyper, but not more than usual, although the waiting was long for them. Four out of five enjoyed the fireworks, but Jane, my almost 3yo, was terrified! She was fine last year, but now she was really scared of them, putting her head in my shoulder and not letting go! I hadn't expected that at all, it is not like her! I had expected the baby maybe to be scared of them, but she was fine, clapping and cheering very enthusiastically. After the fireworks were over, Jane was fine again.

We were home pretty late and I hoped the baby would sleep now, but no such luck! Hmmm, maybe the new baby will be a sleeper? Maybe we should keep having them until we are blessed with one who sleeps? Although after so many non-sleepers, the odds are that our next kids won't be great sleepers either. Although I have an on line friend who finally got a baby who sleeps as her 10th kid, so who knows? LOL
